FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What are Nutritional Supplements?

A dietary supplement, also known as food supplement or nutritional supplement, is a preparation intended to supplement the diet and provide nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acids, or amino acids, that may be missing or may not be consumed in sufficient quantities in a person's diet. Some countries define dietary supplements as foods, while in others they are defined as drugs or natural health products.

Supplements containing vitamins or dietary minerals are included as a category of food in the Codex Alimentarius, a collection of internationally recognized standards, codes of practice, guidelines and other recommendations relating to foods, food production and food safety.

No harmful fillers, binders or other additives (excipients)

Supplements work ONLY because of the active ingredients in them. So why are almost all supplements on the market laden with inexpensive in-active or NON-nutritive substances? Fillers, binders, anti-caking agents, lubricants, disintegrants, coating agents, sweeteners, coloring agents, flavoring agents. . . and this list is by no means complete  These ‘Other Ingredients’ are man-made chemicals that are added to supplements to bind ingredients, make the product seem larger, help make manufacturing much cheaper, and for fake flavor or coloring.  The use of additives is not necessary however additives make supplements easier, faster, cheaper and more profitable to manufacture and is probably the reason why most nutritional supplements companies use them. Tablets must contain excipients by their nature (that is how they are made and you would be wise to stay away from them.

Among the many reasons why we don’t use them, we feel very strongly that avoiding additives allows the activity of, and synergy between, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, plant enzymes and other beneficial compounds to be experienced in the most profound and intense way.  And why would you want to consume supplements loaded with these questionable or potentially harmful non-nutritive excipients. One common example of a questionable excipient is magnesium stearate, an inexpensive lubricating agent used in capsules and tablets. Research shows it may be immune-compromising.

Ingredient Quality

How do you source your ingredients?

We select our ingredients based on identity, purity, and superior quality. We source ingredients from qualified, trusted leaders and suppliers throughout the world. All of our ingredients are tested for purity and species identification by independent laboratories.

Do you list ALL ingredients on the label?

Your Signature Supplements lists all ingredients on each of its product labels. Recent FDA laws now require the listing of all ingredients, including excipients, on product labels so it is now easier for you to identify products that contain undesirable ingredients.

Do your products contain harmful excipients?

Our products are made without questionable preservatives (such as sodium benzoate) and contain no added coatings, shellac, or hydrogenated oils. We also do not use talcum powder, a suspected carcinogen, in the manufacturing process although the use of this agent is common in the nutritional supplement industry. Rarely will you find talcum powder listed on the label of another manufacturer's product, even though they have used it in their manufacturing process.

Do your products contain magnesium stearates?

We do not add magnesium stearate from either animal or vegetable sources to our products because research shows that it may convert to formaldehyde (a metabolic stressor/contaminator). Formaldehyde is also linked as a carcinogen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

What is the source of your vegetable capsules?

Our vegetable capsules are made from tree fiber. Our certificate of analysis verifies that no undesirable solvents are used to make our capsules. Unfortunately, some companies use vegetable capsules that have solvent residues.

Do you use animal organ and glands in your products?

We do not use harvested animal organs or glands in our products for many reasons, including the risk of consuming undesirable toxins and hormones that the animal may have bioaccumulated. We do not think using animal by products with different hormones and enzyme reactions is a good idea. Instead we have created formulas that help your own glands and organs find balance and heal – without the use of animal organs or glands.

Why does the powder inside the Veg Cap look separated or discolored?

Rarely, some natural separation may occur in the product after encapsulation. We don’t use questionable anti-caking and lubricant fillers so they might happen from time to time. This does not alter the quality of the product.
